I did everything right… or at least I thought I did.
I studied for months. I sacrificed sleep. I kept telling myself that this exam was my chance to achieve my dreams and make my parents proud.
But when the results came, they did not match the effort I had put in.
VARC went well. Then LRDI fell apart. Panic started building, stress took over, and eventually it affected Quant too.
I told myself, “It’s OK. There are other exams.”
So I tried again. The score was slightly better, but still not enough.
Then came the interviews. Another chance. Another opportunity.
I worked hard for them too. Sleepless nights, preparation, research, practice and endless self-doubt.
I kept telling myself, “It’s OK. Interviews will go better.”
They didn't.
Rejections started piling up. Confidence slowly turned into doubt. Some calls did convert, but not into the opportunities I actually wanted.
And eventually, one question kept returning:
Did this happen because I didn’t work hard enough… or because it was never meant for me?
There was a chaotic mind behind a calm smile. I never really showed the negative emotions.
I watched Instagram motivational reels. I read positive quotes. I looked at success stories.
“Everything happens for a reason.”
“This too shall pass.”
But sometimes those words feel empty.
Maybe not everything makes sense immediately. Maybe there isn't always a perfect plan. Maybe some answers only come much later.
I don't have all the answers right now.
I'm still here.
Still trying.
Even if it feels heavy.
Maybe, for now… that’s enough.
Was it my effort… or just wasn’t meant for me?
